About CCEI

Center for Conservation and Ecoenergy Iniatiative

Center for Conservation and Ecoenergy Initiative: is a women-led not-for-profit organization born out of the need to contribute to efforts to turn Uganda’s clean energy potential into reality and to ensure that the common woman and man benefits from this energy boom. The organization is also dedicated to promoting sustainable environmental use, climate change mitigation, human rights and land rights of vulnerable communities.

The organization was formed in 2019 to promote and advocate for the protection of environment and human rights for vulnerable groups particularly women, youths, elderly and others in communities affected by the oil activities, and other projects.

Through lobbying, research and community education, CCEI works with communities and leaders to ensure that clean energy resources are utilised in a way that promotes equitable development, environmental conservation and respect for human rights.

Our Objectives

  • To empower, enhance and strengthen environmentally challenged communities, youth, children, women and men by involving them in promoting environmental justice and sustainable management of natural resources.
  • To promote environmental sustainability through education and community participation.
  • To promote gender equity and inclusiveness in the utilization of energy and other natural resources
  • To promote transparency and accountability in the management and utilisation of natural resources for the common good
  • To conduct research on environmental issues.
